1961 MG MGA

I purchased this car in September of 2003 and have added roughly 6k miles on it since then. The 1600 is (in my opinion) the best of the MGAs. It has the larger 1600cc engine, front disc brakes, the best tail lights offered and it can easily keep up with modern traffic. This car was restored shortly before I purchased it and has been garage kept ever since. The restoration included a complete mechanical overhaul, replacement wire harness, complete interior, and much of the chrome replaced. The Old English white paint is still nearly perfect, and there are enough original components (such as the heater and dash controls) to retain a wonderful patina. This is not a concourse restoration, but a very, very nice driver that can be enjoyed anytime without worry. The car drives great, brakes sharply and shifts smoothly. Mechanically this MG has been perfectly reliable, starting easily on every pull, and requiring only a new water pump and annual oil changes since I’ve owned it. I have a brand new top, but as I’m too tall to fit in the car with the top up, I have not put it on the carriage (which is also not installed in the car). The new top and original carriage will be shipped with the car. I have the original unrestored side-curtains that are in very rough shape which will also be included with the car. The striker plate for the boot latch is missing and not available from Moss. I haven’t ever tried to source one because I have never missed it. The fuel gauge operates but does not read the fuel level correctly.I have enjoyed this car immensely, but with a three year old daughter it just doesn’t work for our family and therefore has been seldom driven the past few years.  I’d love it to go to someone who will enjoy it as much as I have.
